OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to evaluate the amount of enamel tooth wear induced by different antagonistic ceramic crown materials in the posterior area within a follow-up period up to 24 months in function. A network meta-analysis was performed to assess the effect of the materials on the mean vertical loss (MVL) of the antagonist enamel tooth surface. DATA: Main search terms used in combination: ceramic, dental materials, metal ceramic, tooth wear and dental enamel. SOURCES: An electronic search was conducted in PubMed/Medline, Embase, and Cochrane CENTRAL plus hand-searching. STUDY SELECTION: Eligibility criteria included clinical studies reporting on MVL on antagonist's tooth up to 24 months following the permanent crown placement. From a total of 5697 articles, 7 studies reporting on 261 crowns for 177 subjects with 3 ceramic materials (Lithium disilicate, metal-ceramic, monolithic zirconia) were included. Among all, metal-ceramic and zirconia caused significantly higher enamel tooth wear on antagonist teeth, representing 82.5 µm [54.4; 110.6]) and 40.1 µm [22.2; 58.0]) more MVL than natural teeth group. In contrast, lithium disilicate showed only 5.0 µm [-48.2; 58.1]) more MVL than occurs on opposing natural teeth. CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review demonstrated that prosthodontic ceramic materials produced significantly more antagonist enamel tooth wear than opposing natural enamel tooth wear, and ceramic material type was correlated to the degree of enamel tooth wear. Additional well-conducted, randomized controlled trials with homogeneous specimens are required due to inadequate sample size and number of the clinical studies included in the analyses. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The amount of wear caused by different restorative materials has a high influence on the antagonistic natural teeth and should therefore be evaluated intensively by the dentist.

OBJECTIVES: This study compared the surface change on natural and polished enamel exposed to a joint mechanical and chemical wear regimen. METHODS: Human enamel samples were randomly assigned to natural (n = 30) or polished (n = 30) groups, subjected to erosion (n = 10, 0.3% citric acid, 5 min), abrasion (n = 10, 30 s), or a combination (n = 10). Wear in the form of step height was measured with a non-contact profilometer, and surface changes were inspected with SEM on selected sections. Data was normalised and underwent repeated measures MANOVA, accounting for substrate and erosive challenge as independent variables, with Bonferroni correction for significant post hoc interactions. RESULTS: After four cycles, polished samples had mean step heights of 3.08 (0.40) µm after erosion and 4.08 (0.37) µm after erosion/abrasion. For natural samples, these measurements were 1.52 (0.22) µm and 3.62 (0.39) µm, respectively. Natural surfaces displayed less wear than polished surfaces under erosion-only conditions (p<0.0001), but the difference disappeared with added abrasion. SEM revealed a shallow subsurface layer for polished surfaces and natural ones undergoing only erosion. However, natural surfaces exposed to both erosion and abrasion showed deeper subsurface changes up to 50 µm. CONCLUSION: Natural enamel, when exposed to erosion alone, showed less wear and minimal subsurface alterations. But with added abrasion, natural enamel surfaces saw increased wear and notable subsurface changes compared to polished ones. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The pronounced subsurface lesions observed on eroded/abraded natural enamel surfaces highlight how combined wear challenges may accelerate tooth tissue loss.

BACKGROUND: Most studies support parafunctions play an important role in temporomandibular disorders (TMD), whereas the association between tooth wear and TMD remains controversial. Betel nut chewing as a parafunction is popular in South and Southeast Asia. We therefore investigated the association of severely worn dentition resulting from betel nut chewing with TMD. METHODS: A cross-sectional analysis of 408 control participants (male: 380, female: 28, 43.62 ± 9.54 years) and 408 participants with betel nut chewing related severely worn dentition (male: 380, female: 28, 43.73 ± 8.93 years) who received dental and TMD checkup according to Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (DC/TMD) in Health Management Center, Xiangya Hospital was performed. Betel nut chewing related severely worn dentition meant all the natural teeth had moderate to severe tooth wear [Tooth Wear Index (TWI) ≥ 2)] including ≥ 2 severe wear teeth (TWI ≥ 3) due to betel nut chewing. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used. RESULTS: After adjusting for age, gender, betel nut chewing related severely worn dentition, oral submucosal fibrosis, number of missing teeth, number of dental quadrants with missing teeth, visible third molar and orthodontic history, variables of age, gender and betel nut chewing related severely worn dentition were significant for overall TMD. Multivariable analysis showed betel nut chewing related severely worn dentition was significantly associated with intra-articular TMD [odds ratio and 95% confidence intervals: 1.689 (1.271-2.244), P = 0.001] in a betel nut chewing dose-dependent manner. CONCLUSION: Betel nut chewing related severely worn dentition was associated with intra-articular TMD.

BACKGROUND: Tooth wear (TW) prevalence is high and increasing and has important consequences on the patient's quality of life. Knowledge of risk factors is crucial to promote diagnosis, prevention strategies and timely interceptive treatment. Many studies have identified TW risk factors. OBJECTIVE: This scoping review aims to map and describe suspected available factors associated with TW in permanent dentition based on quantitative measurement. METHODS: The scoping review was conducted using the PRISMA extension of the Scoping Reviews checklist. The search was conducted in October 2022 from the Medline® (PubMed® interface) and Scopus® databases. Two independent reviewers selected and characterised the studies. RESULTS: 2702 articles were identified for assessment of titles and abstracts, and 273 articles were included in the review. The results show a need to standardise TW measurement indices and the study design. The included studies highlighted various factors, classified into nine domains: sociodemographic factors, medical history, drinking habits, eating habits, oral hygiene habits, dental factors, bruxism and temporomandibular disorders, behavioural factors, and stress. Results related to chemical TW (erosion) risk factors underline the importance of eating disorders, gastroesophageal reflux and lifestyle, particularly drinking and eating behaviours, which supports developing public health information campaigns and interventions. Besides chemical, this review identifies evidence of several mechanical TW risk factors, such as toothbrushing and bruxism; the influence of this last factor needs to be further explored. CONCLUSIONS: TW management and prevention require a multidisciplinary approach. Dentists are in the first line to detect associated diseases such as reflux or eating disorders. Consequently, practitioners' information and guideline diffusion should be promoted, and a TW risk factors checklist (the ToWeR checklist) is proposed to help diagnostic approaches.

Tooth wear is a commonly reported finding globally; however, many patients are unaware of having tooth wear. Identifying early signs of erosion, abrasion or attrition and determining the risk factors contributing to a patient's tooth wear may help to prevent further loss of enamel and dentine in the future. Appropriate prevention should be instigated, or appropriate referral made to other health professionals, when conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux or eating disorders are suspected. This paper presents the epidemiology and aetiological factors for tooth wear, as well as identifying the common clinical presentations of tooth wear. Patient perspectives on tooth wear and preventive techniques that can be utilised are also discussed.

RESUMO

Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is a relatively common condition that occurs in adults and less commonly in children. It develops when the reflux of stomach contents into the oesophagus causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications. Signs and symptoms include heartburn, retrosternal discomfort, epigastric pain and hoarseness, dental erosion, chronic cough, burning mouth syndrome, halitosis and laryngitis. A proportion of patients will, however, have silent reflux. Strongly associated risk factors include family history, age, hiatus hernia, obesity and neurological conditions, such as cerebral palsy. There are different treatment options which may be considered for GORD, consisting of conservative, medical and surgical therapy. Dentists should be aware of the symptoms of GORD and dental signs of intrinsic erosion indicative of possible GORD so that they can question patients about this and, if appropriate, initiate a referral to a general medical practitioner.

RESUMO

Although we are increasingly recognising the need to assess patients for accelerated rates of tooth wear progression, it is often difficult to do so within a feasible diagnostic window. This paper aims to provide evidence-based timelines which a diagnosing clinician can expect to assess tooth wear progression in study models, clinical indices, clinical photographs and visually with intraoral scans. It also discusses new technologies emerging for the quantitative assessment of tooth wear, timelines for diagnosis, and caveats in the 3D scan registration and analysis process.

BACKGROUND: Pathological tooth wear is an increasing concern and may require intervention and occlusal rehabilitation. Often the treatment includes distalisaton of the mandible to restore the dentition in centric relation. Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is another condition treated my mandibular repositioning but in this case by an advancement appliance. The authors have a concern that there could be a group of patients with both conditions where distalisation for their tooth wear management would be contrary to their OSA treatment. This paper aims to look at this potential risk. METHODS: A literature search was carried out using the following keywords (OSA or sleep apnoea or apnea or snoring or AHI or Epworth score) and for tooth surface loss (TSL or distalisation or centric relation or tooth wear or full mouth rehabilitation). RESULTS: No studies were identified which considered the effect of mandibular distalisation on OSA. CONCLUSION: There is a theoretical risk that dental treatment involving distalisation may adversely affect patients at risk of OSA or worsening their condition due to the modification of airway patency. Further study is recommended.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyse the relationship between the type and amount of fluid intake and the incidence of erosive tooth wear in a group of healthy children and children with disabilities. Methods: This study was conducted among children aged 6-17 years, patients of the Dental Clinic in Kraków. The research included 86 children: 44 healthy children and 42 children with disabilities. The prevalence of erosive tooth wear using the Basic Erosive Wear Examination (BEWE) index was assessed by the dentist, who also determined the prevalence of dry mouth using a mirror test. A qualitative-quantitative questionnaire on the frequency of consumption of specific liquids and foods related to the occurrence of erosive tooth wear, completed by the children's parents, was used to assess dietary habits. Results: The occurrence of erosive tooth wear was determined for 26% of the total number of children studied, and these were mostly lesions of minor severity. The mean value of the sum of the BEWE index was significantly higher (p = 0.0003) in the group of children with disabilities. In contrast, the risk of erosive tooth wear was non-significantly higher in children with disabilities (31.0%) than in healthy children (20.5%). Dry mouth was significantly more frequently identified among children with disabilities (57.1%). Erosive tooth wear was also significantly more common (p = 0.02) in children whose parents declared the presence of eating disorders. Children with disabilities consumed flavoured water or water with added syrup/juice and fruit teas with significantly higher frequency, while there were no differences in quantitative fluid intake between groups. The frequency and quantity of drinking flavoured waters or water with added syrup/juice, sweetened carbonated, and non-carbonated drinks were associated with the occurrence of erosive tooth wear for all children studied. Conclusions: The group of studied children presents inappropriate drinking behaviours regarding the frequency and amount of beverages consumed, which, especially in a group of children with disabilities, may contribute to the formation of erosive cavities.

OBJECTIVES: Tooth wear causes irreversible cumulated surface loss and already occurs at a young age. Therefore, the objective of this clinical prospective observational study was to monitor the occlusal surface of a mandibular first molar in young adults for a period of 24 months. Furthermore, potential aetiological factors obtained by a questionnaire were considered. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study teeth (FDI #36 or #46) of 81 participants (mean age 22.8 ± 2.2 years) were scanned with the intraoral scanner (IOS, Trios 3, 3Shape) at the second follow-up (T2) after an observation period of 24 months. Standard-tessellation-language datasets were superimposed with baseline (T0) and T2 scans in 3D analysis software (GOM Inspect). The maximum vertical substance loss was measured between T0 and T2 at 6/7 areas (4/5 cusps and 2 ridges) of each study tooth and data compared to the already published data of the first follow-up (T1) after 12-month observation period. The morphology of tooth wear was classified into three groups: cupping (C), facet (F) and combined cupping-facet (CF). The analysis of aetiological factors, such as acid impacts, was based on a questionnaire filled out by participants at time points T0, T1 and T2. Non-parametric tests were used for statistical analysis (p < 0.05). RESULTS: The buccal load-bearing cusps (mesiobuccal: median 15 µm, 95%CI 11/18 µm; mesiolingual 8 µm, 0/11 µm) were most affected by tooth wear. Loss values increased significantly at T2 compared to T1 for all areas, although significantly less than in the first 12 months (T0-T1). Areas that already exhibited F at T0 mostly displayed them also at T2 and only rarely developed further into C or CF. The only association between aetiological factors and loss values could be detected for sex as males had significantly higher loss values than females. CONCLUSIONS: Progression of tooth wear could be clearly shown with high interindividual variations in loss values among participants. This indicates the need for individual monitoring with IOS. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: IOSs show the potential for patient-specific monitoring to detect the progression of tooth wear. Thus, data of 24 months fills the gap of tooth wear data for young adults in literature. Further studies over a longer observation period are highly recommended to gain more information about the dynamic of tooth wear and aetiological factors.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the prevalence of tooth wear and associated factors in adults from the 1982 Pelotas Birth Cohort. METHODS: A subsample of the 5,914 individuals from the 1982 Pelotas Birth Cohort was randomly selected to be interviewed and clinically examined at the age of 31. Tooth wear was evaluated using a simplified version of the Tooth Wear Index (TWI), considering the absence or presence of tooth wear in dentin of first molars and anterior teeth (incisors and canines). Independent variables were socioeconomic, demographic, unhealthy behavior, and mental health. Crude and adjusted Poisson regression models were employed. A significant level of P ≤ 0.05 was adopted. RESULTS: A total of 537 individuals were evaluated. A tooth wear prevalence of 61.6% was observed. Females presented a statistically significant lower tooth wear in dentin prevalence ratio (PR) compared to males in the adjusted analysis (PR 0.76; 95% CI: 0.67-0.86). Acid beverage consumption (PR 1.22; 95% CI: 1.01-1.49) and consumption of alcoholic beverages (PR 1.19; 95% CI: 1.04-1.35) were positively associated with tooth wear. CONCLUSION: Almost 2/3 of the surveyed individuals presented tooth wear in dentin. Being a male, higher consumption of alcohol and acidic beverages were factors associated with tooth wear. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: There was a high prevalence of tooth wear in dentin in the adult population. Data has also shown the etiological complexity of tooth wear, reinforcing the importance of an early diagnosis and the establishment of preventive measures to decrease the potentially hazardous effect of tooth wear over time.

The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and severity of erosive tooth wear (ETW) among Finnish adolescents and to evaluate how frequency as well as amount of the use of erosive products is associated with ETW. The study population consisted of 328 voluntary, >15-year-old secondary school students (males 49.1%, females 50.9%) in three municipalities in Finland. Clinical examination to measure ETW (BEWE index) was carried out by trained and calibrated dentists. Piloted questionnaires included questions on consumption of drinks, fruits and berries, as well as tooth brushing frequency. Means and medians of frequencies and amounts of consumed erosive products were calculated and associations with ETW severity were analysed by logistic regression models. One-third (36.9%) of the participants were in need of at least preventive measures for ETW (BEWE sum score ≥3), but severe ETW (BEWE sum score >9) was rare (2.1%). Boys had severe ETW significantly more frequently than girls (p < 0.001). Habitual consumption of erosive drinks was common especially among boys compared to girls (p = 0.001). ETW was significantly associated with the amount of consumed erosive drinks, fruits, or berries. The prevalence of ETW among adolescences in Finland seems to be at the same level as in other Nordic and European countries. Consumption of erosive products is common and thus, the risk for tooth erosion is high, especially in boys. In addition to erosive drinks, also berries and fruits are associated with ETW and should be included in individual dietary counselling when early signs of ETW are clinically detected.

This study was undertaken to estimate the prevalence and severity of tooth wear (TW), as well as to assess non-biological and biological risk indicators for TW outcomes in adults. A cross-sectional study, adhering to the reporting STROBE guidelines, was conducted and had a convenience sample of adults ≥18 years of age who had at least one bilateral posterior molar contact. A total of 570 participants, seeking consultation at the University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium, were allocated to three age groups: 18-34 years (n = 232), 35-54 years (n = 256), and ≥55 years old (n = 79). Participants answered a self-applied questionnaire regarding sociodemographics, oral hygiene, and lifestyle behavior. The questionnaire was tested-retested (intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.71). Inter-examiner reliability for clinical examinations was k = 0.76-0.80. The prevalence of TW was 75% (95% CI: 71.7-78.9). Out of these patients, 42% (95% CI: 38.0-46.3) had as the primary etiological factor the process of dental erosion, while 22% (95% CI: 18.9-25.9) and 11% (95% CI: 8.6-13.9) had the processes of dental attrition and dental abrasion, respectively. The severity of TW according to BEWE highest score was mild in 31%, moderate in 28%, and severe in 17% of participants. The hierarchical logistic regression model for the association between risk indicators and TW irrespective of the etiology was significant for age (>35-54 years: OR = 2.35 and ≥55 years: OR = 3.89; p < 0.001), gender (>male: OR = 2.03; p < 0.001), toothpaste (>sensitive teeth: OR = 2.34; p = 0.005), occlusal splint (>yes: OR = 1.62; p = 0.03), and acidic beverages (≥once per day: OR = 1.62; p = 0.044). Consumption of acidic beverages was not associated with TW having as the primary etiological factor the process of dental attrition or dental abrasion, while it was significantly associated with the process of dental erosion (>once per week: OR = 1.69; p = 0.043 and ≥once per day: OR = 1.73; p = 0.016). Medical conditions were equally associated with the latter (OR = 3.11; p < 0.001). These findings could contribute to improving the effectiveness and sustainability of awareness in contemporary adult populations. In conclusion, the prevalence and severity of TW in adults were substantial. Medical conditions and consumption of acidic beverages were risk indicators for TW having as the primary etiological factor the process of dental erosion, although associations were moderate and weak, respectively.

O objetivo desse estudo foi comparar o tempo de confecção clínica, laboratorial e ajustes clínicos para a instalação de placas oclusais termopolimerizáveis convencionais (PC) e confeccionadas por CAD/CAM fresadas (PF) em pacientes com bruxismo do sono. Para tanto, foi realizado um ensaio clínico controlado e não randomizado onde foram incluídos pacientes com diagnóstico de provável bruxismo do sono. Foram confeccionadas PC (n = 24) e PF (n = 24) sendo mensurados o tempo de confecção clínica (TCC), tempo de confecção laboratorial (TCL) e tempo de instalação (TI) para cada uma das placas. Foi utilizado o teste Mann-whitney com nível de confiança de 95% no programa SPSS IBM Statistics para analisar se existe diferença entre os tempos analisados e o tipo de placa confeccionada. Como resultado, verificou-se que a PC possuiu maior TCC total (média de 94,39 min) em relação à PF (17,85 min) (p<0,001). Entretanto, o TCL total da PC foi menor (164,80 min), que a PF (182,64min) (p=0,015). Para o TI, foi encontrado que PF obteve uma média 21, 26 min, enquanto PC obteve 37,19 min (p<0,001). Como conclusão, dentro as limitações do estudo, observou-se que as placas fresadas apresentaram menor tempo clínico tanto na etapa de confecção quanto de instalação. Entretanto, o tempo de confecção laboratorial das placas convencionais foi inferior (AU).


The aim of the study was to compare the clinical and laboratory preparation time and clinical adjustments for the installation of conventional thermopolymerizable resin splint (CS) and milled CAD/CAM (MS) occlusal splints in patients with sleep bruxism. For this purpose, a controlled and non-randomized clinical trial was carried out in which patients diagnosed with probable sleep bruxism were included. CS (n = 24) and MS (n = 24) were prepared and the clinical preparation time (CPT), laboratory preparation time (LPT) and installation time (IT) were measured for each of the splints. The Mannwhitney test with a confidence level of 95% was used in the SPSS IBM Statistics program to analyze whether there is a difference between the analyzed times and the type splint performed. As a result, it was found that CS had higher total CPT (mean of 94,39 min) in relation to MS (17,85 min) (p0<001). However, the total LPT of the CS was lower (164,80 min) than the MS (182,64min) (p=0.015). For the IT, it was found that the MS had an average of 21,26 min, while the CS had 37,19min (p0<001). In conclusion, within the limitations of the study, it was observed that the milled splint had a shorter clinical time both in the manufacturing and installation stages. However, the laboratory preparation time of the conventional splint was shorter (AU).

OBJECTIVES: Erosive tooth wear (ETW) is defined as the irreversible chemo-mechanical loss of dental hard tissues without plaque or bacteria and has been a growing phenomenon in the general population worldwide. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of ETW and the associated risk factors among young military personnel in Singapore. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study consisted of a questionnaire and clinical examination of military personnel between 18 and 25 years. The questionnaire collected information on demographics, medical and dental history, lifestyle and dietary habits. Tooth wear was clinically evaluated using the Basic Erosive Wear Examination (BEWE) index. The participants were profiled into four risk categories (none, low, moderate, severe) based on the sum score. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the risk factors associated with the presence of ETW. RESULTS: Out of 1296 participants evaluated, 21.8% of them had ETW. The anterior sextants were more affected by erosion than posterior sextants for both arches. The risk factors significantly associated with ETW were GERD (OR = 2.83, p = 0.041), presence of self-reported TMD symptoms (OR = 2.51, p < 0.001), acidic food (OR = 2.03, p < 0.001) and drinks (OR = 3.07, p < 0.001), high caries risk (OR = 4.59, p < 0.001) and toothbrush stiffness (OR = 4.67, p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: ETW is prevalent among the young military population, with over half of the population at a risk of ETW. Gastric reflux disease, TMD, acidic diet, dental caries susceptibility and the use of stiff toothbrushes were identified as significant risk factors. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: A large proportion of young military personnel exhibited mild to moderate risk of ETW. Dental professionals can identify risk-susceptible individuals at a young age and educated them with preventive measures and dietary interventions to prevent the progression of the condition.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine predictors of erosive tooth wear (ETW) progression, using novel primary-care quantitative analysis techniques. METHODS: In a single-centre, prospective, observational cohort longitudinal study, adolescents, aged 11-18 years, underwent a baseline BEWE examination, validated risk factors questionnaire and baseline intraoral scan (IOS, TRIOS 3.0, 3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark). One year later a repeat scan was taken. Quantitative analysis of wear progression (volume loss) on first permanent molars and upper central incisors was performed using previously published protocols. Multilevel linear regression was used to investigate the associations between baseline predictors and volume loss per mm2. RESULTS: A total of 295 dental surfaces (131 incisors and 164 molars) in 70 patients were analysed for this study. The mean age of participants at baseline was 15.0 years (SD: 0.79), and the average time between scans was 11.8 months (1.61 SD; range 10-13). The mean volume loss per mm2 of dental surfaces was -0.013 mm3 (SD: 0.009). Greater volume loss was observed amongst adolescents with higher baseline BEWE scores and those whose parents had lower education as well as on molar than incisor surfaces. No associations were found with dietary acid intake and intrinsic acid exposure when baseline levels of tooth wear, parental education and other factors were controlled for. CONCLUSIONS: The findings help to characterise groups at greater risk of ETW and would indicate that improved screening and upstream preventative measures should form the basis of a preventative program. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Intra-orals scans and registration software might improve the ability to diagnose, monitor and prevent the early loss of dental hard tissue.

PURPOSE: The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the clinical performance of minimally invasive, CAD/CAM nano-ceramic (composite) restorations in patients with severe tooth wear, the effect of the restorative treatment on the oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL), and the etiology of tooth wear as a risk factor for restoration failure. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Patients with generalized severe tooth wear were included. Restorations (LAVA Ultimate, 3M Oral Care) were cemented (RelyX Ultimate, 3M Oral Care) on all teeth and were evaluated after 1 month and 1 year. OHRQoL was assessed via questionnaires at baseline and after 1 year. Differences were evaluated (paired t-test). Two mechanical tooth-wear lesions resulting from tooth-tooth contact, and 3 chemical tooth wear lesions resulting from intrinsic or extrinsic acids dissolving natural hard tooth substance, were evaluated to assess the etiology of tooth wear in association with restoration failure using multilevel logistic regression analyses (p < 0.05). RESULTS: Twenty-one patients (age: 41.7 ± 10.4 years) were evaluated after 1 year (13.5 ± 1.2 months). 568 indirect CAD/CAM restorations were placed. None were replaced or lost. Twelve were repaired and 10 were refurbished. Success rates were 100% to 97.2%. Questionnaires showed a significant positive impact of the treatment on OHRQoL (p < 0.001). The presence of mechanical lesions did not pose a higher risk for restoration failure (p = 0.78). The presence of chemical lesions showed a lower risk of restoration failure (p = 0.002). CONCLUSION: The use of minimally invasive, CAD/CAM nano-ceramic (composite) restorations in the restorative treatment of severely worn dentitions showed satisfactory results in the short term.
